Frequently Asked Questions

What to Expect

If you are visiting us for the first time, stop by our Welcome Center, located at the main entrance. Below are answers to help you feel more comfortable as you come to our church, get your children settled in KidZone, and experience a dynamic time of worship.

What Does First North Believe? Connect – Grow – Serve

We connect others to God and one another through Jesus Christ, help them grow in their relationship with Him and serve others in the name of Jesus.

What About My Children?

FirstKidz provides programs for children birth-6th grade. Each child has a class where they are learning more about God’s Word. We offer a safe environment and a secure facility.
First North’s Student Ministry is for students from 7th grade to high school seniors. Students meet in the Rock, our student center.

What Is The Worship Service Like?

We want our worship to be real, authentic, passionate, and relevant to you.
The Celebration Service is led by our praise team along with our choir and orchestra and blends traditional and modern worship styles. It meets at 9:00am in the Worship Center.
The Contemporary Service is led by our worship band and features more modern praise and worship. It meets at 11:00am in the Worship Center.

How Do I Connect?

Known to some as Sunday school, Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF) classes meet at 10:00am on Sundays. These classes meet for prayer, Bible study, and fellowship. We have classes for couples, men, women, and college students.
Small Groups are another option for connecting. These groups meet throughout the week in members’ homes for prayer, Bible study, and fellowship.

What Should I Wear?

We encourage you to come as you are. God sees our heart and that’s what He cares about; it’s not about the style of clothing we choose. Just so you’ll know, most people attend wearing business-casual attire. Don’t be surprised if you see a few suits and ties, as well as many people wearing jeans.

Where Do I Park?

If you are a guest to our church, we invite you to use the guest spaces. These spaces are located in the front lot. Simply turn on your car lights when you enter the parking lot, and our parking attendants will direct you to a space.

How Do I Join First North?

When you feel you are ready to become a member of the church family at First Baptist North Spartanburg, we want to celebrate that decision with you. In fact, so does Jesus Christ! He wants you to let others know when you make that decision. That’s why He calls you to make the decision to be a part of His kingdom a public one. He wants you to make a public profession of your faith.
At First Baptist North Spartanburg, walking down to the front of the church and expressing your desire to join any of the ministers that are there is how you make the profession a public one. You are then paired with a Decision Counselor who will take you to a quiet room and explain the membership process to you and get some information from you. If you like, someone can contact you ahead of time and get this information in advance. You will still need to come forward and go back to the counseling room to get your picture made.
