One of the first steps to getting to the “end of me,” is being aware of our spiritual lives. If we truly want to grow in Jesus Christ, we must NEVER reach a state of contentment…a place where we feel like we’ve got our spiritual bases covered. Regardless of what we’re doing in your relationship with Jesus, He wants more of us and less of our actions. We may read your devotion every morning, go to Sunday School and Worship on Sunday, and maybe even serve someway at church. But are we seeking Him or His approval? It’s worth repeating: Jesus wants more of us and less of our actions.
John 15:1-2 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”
This pruning process is in line with getting to the “end of me.” Getting to the place where God’s role in our lives increases and our role decreases (John 3:30). God’s desire is that we give Him 100% of our lives. Unfortunately, we tend to give Him less than 100%. If we looked at the split in our lives of Him to us, what would it look it: 90/10, 80/20, 70/30, 60/40, 50/50, 40/60, 30/70, 20/80, 10/90, or 0/100? Wherever you land, He wants to be the higher percentage. We’re never “set” where we are. We must ALL strive to move to where our lives are more about Him and less about us….strive to be at the “end of me.”
